Taiwan Stock Market

After World War II, Taiwan returned to Chinese control. Nationalists went to Taiwan, after 1949, and created a government based on the guidelines of the 1946 constitution for all China; throughout the years, Taiwanese people became more involved in government as the administration became more democratized. As power was given to the Democratic Progressive Party, Taiwan became one of the economic “Tigers” of East Asia. The idea of unification continues to shape politics in Taiwan, as does internal economic reform.
